We provide free counseling in English to foreign workers living in Japan.

English is the second language of the counselors, therefore it is recommended to use clients for whom English is a second language.

The session will be held online. Depending on the counselor’s availability, scheduling may be more than one month in advance.

Please note that we may not be able to take on urgent topics (such as suicidal ideation or serious mental illness).

Methods of Supporting People

We offer Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) in English. REBT is a cognitive-behavioral therapy developed by psychologist Albert Ellis. It is not only expected to be effective in the treatment of depression, antianxiety disorders, personality disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and PTSD, but is also applied to stress and emotional management, prevention of mental health problems, and coaching.

In REBT, the client’s problem is analyzed using the ABCs, where A is the activating event, the event that triggers the difficulty. Like other cognitive-behavioral therapy theories, REBT assumes a model in which B (thoughts, beliefs) in A causes C (consequences) to help clients to solve their problem. C (consequences) refers to emotional and behavioral problems.

Basically, we deals with the client’s emotional issues (anger, anxiety, guilt, jealousy, lack of motivation, etc.). Then we address behavioral issues, such as weight loss, running a business, family relationships, workplace and other relationships, and achieving other goals.
